ABOUT THE PROJECT During a bombardment, if an underground shelter is unavailable, a space shielded by two walls or a corridor is considered the second safest option after a basement. The first wall absorbs the impact, the second — shattered debris from the hit — this is the rule. This practical principle has become a minimal survival measure of protection for Ukrainian citizens during Russian bombardments of civilian areas. A missile launched from Belgorod takes about 30 seconds to reach Kharkiv, making it practically impossible to reach safety in time. So the rule becomes common sense, an essential part of everyday life.

This exhibition urges the viewers to recognize the safety of the walls surrounding them in a gallery in Switzerland. At the same the installation created in collaboration with architect Nicolas Martin reminds the public of the constant background danger of civilian life in Ukraine. The two walls hover over the exhibited pieces and the audience, creating unsettling feelings and supporting the conceptual narrative of the exhibition.

The exhibition showcases 5 Ukrainian short films on diverse topics.
